In the wake of the startling news regarding Dior’s termination of their contract with the designer John Galliano, and of the even more surprising causes, the catwalk show was the center of attention. Outside the Musée Rodin, hundreds of people with cameras looked on to see how the fashion world would deal with this scandal.
As all were seated, Sidney Toledano, CEO for Dior, took the stage and gave a moving speech about what Mr. Dior and the house stood for, how difficult this whole ordeal had been, considering the imense talent of its designer (not once during the whole 4 page speech was Mr. Galliano nominated) and ended by saying that what we would see, was the work of the “petites mains” as are known the artisans and seamstresses of any fashion atelier. At the end, these were the ones to receive, on stage, the standing ovation to a beautiful and comercial collection.
